Seriously? Warren Buffett Owes Back Taxes from 2002?

23 Sep

The NY Post has a piece titled “Warren Buffett, hypocrite,” in which they detail how Berkshire Hathaway openly admits that it owes back taxes since as long ago as 2002!

But, in Buffett’s defense, his firm states:

“We anticipate that we will resolve all adjustments proposed by the US Internal Revenue Service (“IRS”) for the 2002 through 2004 tax years … within the next 12 months”

Oh really?  So, you will finally be paying taxes that you’ve owed since 2002 within the next 12 months?  Sweet.

I have a question.  Why the hell is Warren Buffett’s firm looking for ways to avoid paying taxes for the past 9 years?  I thought he, and “rich” people like him, should be paying more in taxes, not less.  Isn’t that what he’s been saying lately?  Isn’t that why Obama seems to bring up his name every time he complains about “rich” people not paying their “fair share”?  Isn’t that why Obama just named a brand new tax the “Buffett Rule”?

I know that liberals live by the “do as I say, not as I do” rule, but this is ridiculous.  How is anyone supposed to take Buffett seriously when he is complaining about not being taxed enough, while not paying taxes he already owes?  I know that Obama has no shame, but this one is unbelievable.
