Black Caucus Unwilling to March on Black President

23 Sep

The Chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) Emanuel Cleaver recently talked about the predicament that both he, and fellow members of the CBC, are in as it relates to the growing unrest in the black community with Obama.

“If (former President) Bill Clinton had been in the White House and had failed to address this problem, we probably would be marching on the White House,” Cleaver said. “There is a less-volatile reaction in the CBC because nobody wants to do anything that would empower the people who hate the president.”

Black unemployment is nearly 17% and is at a three-decade high.  It’s almost twice the size of the overall unemployment rate.  It says a lot that with numbers like this in the black community that the CBC is making its decision not to criticize the President solely on the basis of race.

What would our country be like if white people held back criticism of white Presidents or politicians, to prevent empowering people who hate those particular Presidents or politicians?  I shudder to think.  I can’t fathom defending someone just because they are white.  Would never cross my mind.  I’ll take a competent black, Hispanic, Asian (you name it) person any day over an incompetent white person.  It would be nice if others had higher standards as well.

On the bright side, I’m sure we will have a white President again some day.  Then the CBC will be able to march on the White House without fear.

Hey, here’s an idea: why don’t they just criticize Obama’s white half?
