Why on Earth Would a CEO Make More Than Employees?

8 Sep

Former GM Vice Chairman, Bob Lutz, was recently a guest on Dylan Ratigan’s show on MSNBC.  Also on the show was Democrat strategist, Karen Finney.  The topic was labor unions and wages.  Lutz stated that:

“the American automobile workers, still after all the cuts, through Chapter 11, are still among the highest paid workers in the world.”

To which, Finney replied:

“what are the CEOs making?  I mean, if we’re going to talk about what the workers are making, what are the CEOs making?  Why don’t we make that comparison?”

I wish Lutz would have asked Finney why a CEO of any company makes more than the workers of that company.  Is it really that hard to figure out why a CEO in charge of the global operations of a car company would make considerably more money than a worker on the line?
