Man-Made Global Warming Myth and Democrats

3 Mar

The consensus in the 1970s was that the climate had begun to cool and in order to survive the world needed massive government interventions in energy production and consumption.  One of those people claiming that we were headed for a “New Ice Age” is John Holdren.  Mr. Holdren is now one of the leading voices in the U.S. on global warming.  He’s also Obama’s climate-change czar.

This clip is from an Environment and Public Works Committee meeting, where Republican Senators John Barrasso, James Inhofe, and Tom Udall take on EPA Director, Lisa Jackson, as well as Democrat Senator Barbara Boxer on this matter.  Money line is from Barrasso when he states:

Forty years ago, the same scientists that are predicting the end of the world now from global warming were predicting the end of the world from global cooling,” said Barrasso. “So if we had committed the same amount of taxpayer resources and government manpower that the administration now wants us to commit to prevent global warming — if we’d done that prevent global cooling, we wouldn’t be the most prosperous nation on earth.”

And, of course, Time Magazine has no problem promoting the hysteria du jour.  Apparently, they just do whatever is most likely to give Big Government more opportunities to grow even bigger.

Great news today on this issue.  Democrats co-sponsor a bill to limit the powers of the EPA.  “Even if Obama vetoes the bill, though, it will still be a useful exercise.  Obama will have put himself in the position of defying Congress’ bipartisan will on the EPA’s authority in an effort to increase the regulatory burden on business and the economy.  Running on that in 2012 won’t help Obama win re-election, and it will also hurt Democrats trying to keep seats in Congress, especially in the Senate.

“Time Magazine has no problem promoting the hysteria du jour. Apparently, they just do whatever is most likely to give Big Government more opportunities to grow even bigger.”

Perhaps, but naw, I think they just do it to make a buck like anyone else.

I don’t know if you realize but back in the 1970s the same people selling the global cooling hysteria were also selling the overpopulation hysteria. Back then they claimed that human population would hit 40 billion by 2050 resulting in mass starvation, global wars and pandemic diseases. Now they have scaled it back to 9 billion by 2050, but they still predict mass starvation, global wars and pandemic disease. Lol!

I fell for the hype back then, I’m not falling for it anymore.

Well, they were only off by 31 billion, but who’s counting! Glad to know your eyes have been opened to this nonsense. Just as Barrasso stated in the video, can you imagine what a waste of time and money it would have been had we listened to these Chicken Littles back in the 70’s? If a Conservative cause, pet project, whatever, was as discredited as the man-made global warming cause is, the media would make fun of them on a regular basis. But, since it’s a liberal cause, they just keep moving full steam ahead as though everyone believes this garbage.

The supposed April 1977 Time cover (upper right) is a hoax, PhotoShopped, from a 2007 global warming cover:,16641,20070409,00.html

You will search in vain for a similar cover from April 1977; go ahead and look at the Time cover database there, using the above link; see for yourself.

Not to say that Time wasn’t worrying about a new ice age back in the 70s; they were:,9171,944914,00.html
