“MSNBC Does Not Have a Political Agenda…We Tell the Truth”

26 Jan

FOX News tends to lean more to the right and MSNBC (and CNN, ABC, CBS, NBC) lean to the left.  Right?  Not so fast says MSNBC’s VP of primetime programming, Bill Wolff.  That’s right, according to Mr. Wolff, MSNBC is not “driven by politics.”  No, you see, Mr. Wolff says “MSNBC does not have a political agenda.  The idea that we’re beholden to one side or the other is ridiculous.”

Now that I think about it, he may be right.  Ed Schultz, Chris Matthews, Keith Olbermann, and Rachel Maddow always treat Republicans with the same respect as Democrats.  They are always just as tough with one side as they are the other.  No dog in the fight at all.  They treat people who support liberal causes just as fairly as they treat people who support Conservative causes.  Just ask members of the Tea Party, George W. Bush, Karl Rove, Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck or Sarah Palin.  They will all tell you that they can always count on getting a fair shake from the hosts of MSNBC.

Furthermore, nothing proves Mr. Wolff’s point more than the coverage of the presidential election of 2008.  The coverage for Obama and McCain was identical.  Straight down the middle.  No one could have ever been able to notice if MSNBC was pulling for one candidate over the other.

Lastly, their coverage of tragedies is impeccable.  They always make sure they have the facts before assigning blame. They would never consider blaming the murder of innocent victims on members of a particular political party or talk radio hosts.  And they definitely would never provide a nightly platform for members of one party to blame members of the other party for the tragedy.

I’m sure glad that Mr. Wolff set the record straight!
