You Can’t Say the “A” Word Anymore

13 Apr

Just a heads-up for everyone out there.  Be careful with the word “athlete.”  You might want to try “A” word instead, just to be safe.  Particularly if you are a Republican.

According to Norah O’Donnell of MSNBC, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich made racially charged remarks about Obama while speaking at the Southern Republican Leadership Conference.  Gingrich commented that:

“shooting three-point shots may be clever, but it doesn’t put anybody to work”…and when speaking of Obama’s basketball skills he stated What we need is a President, not an athlete. We need somebody who actually focuses on getting people back to work.”

Not missing any opportunity to insinuate that Republicans are racist, Norah O’Donnell commented:

But I’m not sure what he means by this particular soundbite and I think it’s open to some criticism because it suggests that the President is an athlete and some people may suggest, you  know, because all black people are good athletes. I mean that’s what it sort of sounds like to me.”

So, she said that all black people are good athletes, but he is the racist? She really thought that one through.
